The county of Gwynedd occupies much of Snowdonia including Snowdon which at 3560 feet is the highest mountain in Wales and England. Architectural features include castles at Caernarfon and Harlech. The Mawddach Estuary at Barmouth, backed by Cadair Idris, is regarded as one of the most beautiful views in Wales.
