Northumberland

Northumberland is in the far north-eastern corner of England on a similar line of latitude to the Southern Uplands of Scotland. It is a windswept landscape of vast open beaches, ruined castles and further inland bordering Scotland are the Cheviot Hills. Here is a landscape that largely escapes the visitor's gaze, yet scenically it is second to none.
