Oxfordshire

The River Thames flows through the heart of the county, at Oxford it becomes known as the Isis. In 1974 the county acquired the northern part of Berkshire, including Vale of White Horse. Eastwards it rises to the Chiltern Hills near Goring and to the west the Cotswolds and the picturesque towns of Burford and Chipping Norton.
