The southern part of Suffolk, bordering Essex, is 'Constable Country'. The composer Benjamin Britten lived at Aldeburgh and William Alwyn at Blythburgh. Several rivers, principally the Stour and Orwell, penetrate several miles inland flowing past pretty villages with magnificent churches. Ipswich is the main town, Bury St. Edmunds the cathedral city.
