A landlocked West Country county bordered by Dorset, Somerset, Gloucestershire and Hampshire. Salisbury is the cathedral city with a Plain stretching across much of the county used for military purposes. Magnificent gardens at Wilton and Stourhead; Malmesbury is one of its most interesting towns with buildings of Cotswold stone.
