I became interested in Digital Photography in 1998, not so much Imaging with a computer which was prevalent at the time, but Photography with a digital camera. Olympus UK support my work, particularly by supplying cameras for my holidays and courses.
Two talks have emerged resulting from this support.
1. Landscape - Searching for Infinity
2. Seeing is Believing
3. Let there be Light!
See Lectures for more details of talks.
For bookings email derek@derekforss.comThe Olympus E-System is the perfect answer for dedicated digital photography at a reasonable price. The four thirds open standard uses a slightly smaller sensor capable of producing images of the highest quality that can hold their own in the very best company.
This is because the E-System is designed from scratch, it is not a hybrid camera paying lip service to film photography. Digital requires its own standard, including tele-concentric lenses that deliver the light directly to the entire area of the sensor and not at an acute angle at the edges. The larger the sensor the more difficult it can become to accomplish this basic requirement resulting in lenses that lack wide apertures - such as f2 and f2.8 - and extreme wide-angle. All E-System cameras boast an effective 'dust-buster' protecting the sensor, introduced in 2003 with the E-1 and still very effective.
Currently I use the E-3 and E-PL3 Pen cameras. The Pen is a Compact System Camera (CSC) capable of producing quality images for commercial reproduction in publications.
